Carbrooke Coronation tea a great success

Carbrooke coronation tea-20

Earlier in the year the Village Hall secured a grant from Breckland Council to help our community celebrate the Coronation. Since then members of the Village Hall and Heritage committees, together with a team of helpers, have been putting together a very special afternoon tea party.

The free event proved very popular with Carbrooke residents with all of the tickets being snapped up well before the date. The decorated coronation cake competition was also extremely popular with some truly stunning (and tasty!) entries.

It was lovely to see so many of the more senior members of our community at the event - including two nonagenarians - Walter Musket and Brian Smith - along with one of the very youngest at just 4 weeks old!

Christina made £115 on the raffle which she thinks is the most yet. Alan opened the bar and although internet was slow managed to take everyone's money.
A big thanks to Christina and Angela for leading on the event organisation and to everyone who helped to make the afternoon really special:
  • Angela, Trevor, Christina, Maxine, Steve, Lindsay & Ivan for their excellent waiting skills and those people that helped clear up
  • The Craft group for putting together the souvenirs
  • Angela and Yvonne for the Heritage display
  • Alan for running the bar
  • Rob for advertising
  • Kira & Chloe for entertaining at the craft table.
  • Everyone who made a cake and Ian who judged the competition
  • Ed for supplying a bottle of champagne to the winner.
  • Stuart for the music
  • Debbie for the cupcakes, cheese straws and photos
  • Paul & Sue for the sausage rolls and cheese swirls

And finally a big thank you from the Hall and Heritage committees to everyone who came and supported our event and to help the Village celebrate this special occasion!
